Our latest survey finds companies unhappy with the quality and timeliness of management information being provided by the finance function. So what are they doing about it? Cliff Mills reports.

Under pressure - Part 2 | Part 1

Freeing the finance department from routine tasks to concentrate on more strategic issues is mentioned by 53%. In addition, 47% see it as a way of streamlining business processes, and being able to maximise the availability of skilled personnel is mentioned by 41%.

Another option for delivering financial services is to outsource to a third-party organisation and so far 11% of organisations have adopted this method, with 3% currently evaluating it. A few companies, 3%, have created a joint venture with a third party to deliver services to their organisation. However, 80% of companies have no plans to move in this direction.
