Planning and process have long been seen as the real heart
of project management. After all “You have to build the walls
before you can put the roof on”, project novices are told.
It is the order of things that matters, and it is the level
of organisation needed to ensure things happen in a precise
order – that is where the real skill lies.
As with most broad statements, there is some truth in all
this, but it doesn’t tell the whole story – perhaps not even
a fraction of it.
