Kalido was initially developed in 1997 by a team of IT professionals at Royal Dutch/Shell Group who were challenged to deliver a new way of transforming data into information.

Despite extensive research, Shell had been unable to find a commercial data warehouse product that could cope with the continual business change it faced – the cause of many BI project failures.
