Founded in 1983 and headquartered
in South Africa, Dimension Data (LSE:DDT) is a specialist
IT services and solution provider.
It offers clients a ‘lifecycle’ of
services around their technology requirements – helping
companies to plan, build and support their IT infrastructures.
Its offerings include network-related
services where it specialises in contact centres, IP
telephony, operations management, procurement and logistics
and security – Dimension Data has designed and built
over 400 contact centres around the world.
Its Global Procurement and Logistics
division also provides a single point of accountability
for companies’ IT procurement needs. In IP telephony,
it has built and manages communications infrastructure
for thousands of clients.
Dimension Data has 9,500 staff and
operates in over 30 countries. It has a primary listing
on the London Stock Exchange and is also listed on the
Johannesburg Stock Exchange.
In the six months to 31 March, it
made revenues of $1.8 billion and an operating profit
of $55 million. Its clients include 74% of the Global
Fortune 100 and 54% of the Global Fortune 500. Dimension
Data is also a leading Global Cisco Gold Partner in
22 countries and is a Microsoft Gold Partner on five
continents.

Q: WHY DID YOU CHOOSE A BPM RATHER THAN A WORKFLOW SOLUTION?
A: Originally we set out to look for a workflow system but
when we did our homework and understood what was available
in the market we realised that the capability of a BPM solution
far outstripped that provided by workflow software.
The workflow systems were too rigid and did not provide the
flexibility we required. A BPM solution offered a lot more
benefits to the business and gave more adaptability in the
design of business processes.
