To improve processes, therefore, the challenge is to develop
a framework against which you can actively consider your strategy
and approach to managing business processes – and to follow
the advice of Albert Einstein who once said that “everything
should be made as simple as possible, but not simpler”.
This is common sense, you may think, but how many organisations
succeed in differentiating between those business processes
that are absolutely key – where priority and effort should
be directed – and those that are not? The answer is that business
processes are generally managed in a reactive way, to cope
with a complexity that has evolved without design.
