A further layer might then be allowed for area or site-specific
enhancements that can be made without compromising the internal
layers and integration/ interfacing needs. In past projects
I have called these globally tailored systems semiconfigured
versions to distinguish from the base solution and what might
end up as the final version in each location.
Adopting the semi-configured development model was a big
step forward for companies looking to install systems in support
of the pan-national scale business model. It minimises development
effort and provides for the most efficient post-implementation
scenario. On its own, though, it hasn’t helped companies deal
with the previously mentioned management of change issues.
