This could also include investigating how policies from other
parts of the organisation impact on the supply chain, such
as the impact of sales promotions or end of quarter incentives
on the supply chain, or supply chain structural redesign –
where the issue is to understand the impact of major changes
in supply chain structure, such as removing or adding a production
facility or distribution centre.
In addition to making a ‘before and after’ comparison that
can be used to make a business case for the proposed changes,
system dynamics can dynamically model the transition from
current supply chain structure to new supply chain configuration
(how do we get there from here?).
