Conspectus January 2006 - Summary

More than a third of companies feel their HR and payroll management systems still do not adequately meet their needs. But this core of dissatisfaction, highlighted in our article, can be seen in a positive light. It gives HR managers an opportunity not just to upgrade their technology, but also to modernise their own department and ways of working.

That’s a theme pursued by Martyn Sloman of the CIPD who focuses on setting up a portal between HR and the rest of the organisation. Towers Perrin looks at it from the point of view of HR outsourcing and the business change opportunities that represents.

Certainly Julie Hirsch, HR director of TV production company RDF, has gone through the mill of installing new software and emerged with an HR department that presents a more professional face to the organisation and outside world.
