All in all, then, an IP VPN built on a service provider’s
network offers a coherent, secure and flexible means of connecting
up sites and individuals from a single accountable supplier.
As such, it is a common choice for corporate networks – though
all this added value comes at a price.
Internet VPNs
The subject of price is a good point to introduce the internet
VPN. Unsurprisingly, this type of VPN uses the internet as
the underlying shared infrastructure, as opposed to a private
network run by a single service provider.
