The term virtual private network (VPN) is wellestablished
in IT parlance, though it can mean different things to different
people.
For some, it is intimately linked with the internet, whilst
confusingly for others it is a way of avoiding all that is
bad about the internet. Muddying the waters further, the term
also has connotations in the voice networking arena.
