Business managers have talked about processes and process change for decades. So why, might you ask, have so many managers recently begun to talk about business process management and BPM suites?

The answer lies in two major changes in recent years. The first is the move to put process right at the heart of what an organisation does, in order to enhance the value it delivers and really start to drive business performance. The second is the widespread adoption of the internet and the development of XML, which has led to a quantum lead in our ability to integrate enterprise applications.
