The most common reasons for companies altering their supply
chain are the need to cut costs, cited by 76%, and the desire
to improve service (62%). In essence, organisations want to
do things better and more cheaply.
These two factors are driving a new approach to supply chain
management where the concept of ‘lean’ manufacturing is being
developed into the idea of an ‘agile’ supply chain which can
respond flexibly to whatever new needs and demands are placed
