Outsourcing is generally a long-term contractual relationship and, over the
term of the contract, the customer’s business, the available technology and
the competitive and regulatory environment may change dramatically.
The vendor may decide, as part of running its business, to develop the capabilities
the firm will need in the future. Or it may not.
