Ruediger Spies: defensive shield

Spies sums up the situation rather bluntly, saying: “Companies are tired of having to integrate different pieces of products from different vendors. They are looking for a single solution and do not want to have to play around with different interfaces. The recent announcement between SAP and Microsoft about work to integrate their development tools is an acknowledgement of this.”

Williams points out that limited budgets, a desire to exploit specialised processes and a limited ability to assimilate change are more reasons why many companies prefer a best of breed approach. He believes this goes much further than simply combining solutions from different vendors.
