Supply Chain & Manufacturing Systems

Conspectus June 2004 - Summary

Only 2% of the companies surveyed for this issue of Conspectus have achieved all the benefits they expected from their supply chain and manufacturing systems.

The problem is that the technology often consists of large and expensive suites of software, with equally big implementation and integration costs attached. What to do? Hurt offers advice on how to introduce continuous business improvement, instead of just ignoring the ERP suite when things go wrong in the early stages.

David Manning of Oliver Wight believes that achieving supply chain collaboration is more about changing people’s behaviour than just buying new kit.

Elsewhere, Chris Wootton looks specifically at what’s needed to get an e-procurement project off the ground.
