Mark Shaw: control the data engine
Tomlinson agrees: “It’s a question of trust and in many situations
there is one company which bears the cost of introducing collaboration
while the others get the benefits. That does create tensions,
plus there are issues around companies saying that they cannot
collaborate with everyone, so they will choose which partners
are the more important and inevitably some feel left out.
The most successful companies tend to start with an area such
as sales forecasting and then take it one step at a time.”
Data quality
A major problem in improving collaboration is the quality
of the data held by companies. Our experts are unanimous in
the belief that all organisations could do better in this
respect, although there is less consensus about how to improve
the situation.
