In recent months the importance of cargo security has been
raised, with the American Department of Homeland Security
introducing new regulations affecting the importing of goods
into the US. Under these new regulations, advanced electronic
notification of all air cargo must be provided to the US Bureau
of Customs and Border Protection (CBP) automated manifest
system. For air cargo, details must be received prior to departure
(wheels up) or at least four hours prior to landing in the
US. Other countries such as Israel and India are likely to
follow suit.
