With much content being held in electronic format, it is
imperative that organisations are able to manage their information
in a manner that complies with requirements. The implications
for organisations that do not comply with regulations and
legislation can be enormous. In 2002, British American Tobacco
(BAT) destroyed documents that were relevant to a court case.
Because of this the judge threw out BAT’s defence. As a result,
BAT share prices dropped 5%.
