In the last five years, I have seen more than a dozen data
warehouse projects scrapped or downgraded. All too often,
organisations achieve less than optimal results through a
lack of good business strategic reasoning underpinning their
rationale, poor data quality, and no proper costing or value-modelling
of the data.
The answer is to take a data-centric approach. It’s said
that life is lived forwards but can only be understood backwards,
and that summarises the philosophy of the data-centric approach
to business.
