In half of all cases, this development is deliberate and
is described as part of a considered strategy. In a quarter
of cases, respondents admit that the additional data warehouses
or data marts are the result of tactical purchasing by individual
departments, while 14% feel they are due to implementing products
with in-built business intelligence solutions.
For some companies, having several independent data warehouses
is not seen as an issue, since 29% expect their current implementations
to remain separate as their scopes are mutually exclusive.
