Rob Badila: go for innovative portal design

“Innovative portal design enables the essential KPIs for the particular piece of business for which the manager is responsible to be presented along with other information. This provides a single, coherent view whilst affording the manager the capability to drill-down into the data warehouse to obtain additional details or views on other aspects of the business,” agrees Badila.

But Commanay is more ambivalent about the question of the user interface, arguing that some environments are not suitable for thin-client users unfamiliar with IT, while highly sophisticated users may best be serviced by alternatives such as PDAs.
