A fundamental element in project portfolio management is to
understand the size of your existing portfolio and collect
vital information about each element.
The project inventory should be a complete list of all the
projects currently in progress and planned, and it should
include the business case justification of each project. This
information may come from a multitude of sources, though a
mature project-centred organisation should have a project
management office that already collects this data.
