The other big threat to the major outsourcing vendors comes from the seemingly inexorable rise of offshore services providers operating in lower-wage economies. As Rogers said: “Offshore has many benefits, but perhaps the most valued in today’s market is sustained or increased value whilst achieving cost reduction.”

But Morgan pointed out: “When considering offshore locations, there is always a trade-off for low labour rates, whether it is an underdeveloped infrastructure, political instability, or poor language skills. The dynamics of each of these factors are different and require careful and continuous monitoring on a per country or region basis.”
