The majority (60%) expect to use the technology for application-to-application purposes, or for process automation within the enterprise (48%). In contrast, only 32% plan to use it for process automation beyond the enterprise with trading partners.
We explicitly asked organisations how far they think enterprise integration technology is being used for collaborative purposes. Only 8% see this happening ‘to a very great extent’, while 24% reckon it may take off ‘to a greater extent’, and 56% view it as less likely to happen. This strongly suggests that enthusiasm for integrating outside the enterprise is, at best, lukewarm.
