Hewlett-Packard

The need to grow storage capacity is driving IT organisations to try to gain control over the storage environment. As a result, HP believes organisations are looking to take storage from a dedicated, direct attached state where storage space is unshared and unmanaged, into a networked state where all storage resources on the network are available for use by all.

HP recognises that most companies have existing storage investments, which must be retained and used in conjunction with new solutions. As such, storage management tools have to utilise the existing environment and offer a path towards the ultimate goal of a storage utility – where all storage resources are managed as one single pool.
