NAME: Chris Kadwill.
BACKGROUND: Chris joined Luton Borough Council from the private sector, where he was European Computer Auditor for a blue-chip US corporate among other jobs. Since being with the authority, he has had several different IT management roles, culminating in his present job of ICT Manager where he is responsible for the operational service, employing 50 staff in roles from networking and desktop support to application development and maintenance. He is also an ISO and BS qualified auditor.

Q: WHAT PERSUADED YOU TO REVIEW YOUR STORAGE AND DATA MANAGEMENT REQUIREMENTS?
A: When we became a unitary authority, we integrated a great deal of data from the county level, so that we now have
2 terabytes of storage, split between two separate estates, based on the Solaris and Windows 2000 operating systems – with all the complicated management issues that brings. We wanted to simplify this management as much as possible.
