Companies are trying to find ways to cost-effectively buy their way out of the storage shortage. Pat Sweet summarises our latest market research.

When it comes to storage selection, the majority of our sample (70%) opt for directly attached storage (DAS), while 44% choose network attached storage (NAS) and 22% plump for storage area networks (SANs).

However, it looks likely that this situation will change dramatically in the future, with the proportion looking to use DAS almost halving to 36%. Interest in NAS (44%) and SAN (26%) will remain steady over the next two years.
