One problem with business intelligence over the years is that it has not been viewed as an application for the people involved in a company’s front-line operations. Instead, it’s been seen as a power-user oriented product, best left to the ‘experts’.
This has limited its effectiveness as a tool, since many of these BI users are often nowhere near the point of operation – so even if they can use the software to identify a problem, they do not know how to take action, or even what action should be taken.
