 PROFILE

Company: Linklaters.

Interviewee: Philip Shenker.

Job Title: Office Systems Consulting Manager.

The Subject: International law firm Linklaters has installed a global document and content management system that is accessible to clients and which has helped it moved online.

PERSONAL FILE

NAME: Philip Shenker.

BACKGROUND: Philip has been at Linklaters for six years. He joined the firm's IT graduate training programme and after two and a half years became part of the inhouse team of IS consultants who focus on business consultancy and project management. Earlier this year he became manager of the Office Systems Consultancy group, which particularly looks at office productivity solutions including Documentum.

Q: WHAT WAS THE BACKGROUND TO YOUR CONTENT MANAGEMENT SYSTEM PURCHASE?

A: The aim of Linklaters is to be the premier global law firm – and to achieve that we recognised that we needed global systems.

Three-quarters of our work involves teams from different offices and they need to be able to share legal documents. For example, we need a lawyer in New York to be able to create a document and check it in, and their colleague in London to be able to access that document straightaway to work on it.
