So after months and months of hard work (or was it years?), you now have your fully integrated electronic document management system. Your organisation stores almost no new paper. Although it still receives paper documents, important ones are all scanned then destroyed – and all internal and outgoing documents are stored electronically.

This is wonderful. You have met your targets, the much-touted benefits are now being realised – effectiveness gains, space savings, better control. And if your offices suffer a disaster, all your corporate information is backed up, and you’ll be able to recover gracefully, something which was frankly inconceivable with paper.
