Because much of the PSA/SPO functionality already exists, enterprise application software vendors looking to offset their losses in the CRM and ERP area have entered the market – with partnerships, acquisitions, or newly developed products.
Enterprise software vendors who have acquired or developed PSA/SPO functionality include PeopleSoft, Lawson, Epicor, Deltek and SAP. In the first year after introducing its product, PeopleSoft became the market share leader in this space.
Enterprise application software vendors are in a position to expand the market and validate the industry by selling into their existing customer base. However, with their penetration comes increasing competition for point-solution and pure-play vendors.
