  COMPANY FILE

Legato is a data storage management software and services company headquartered in California with offices in 23 countries. Its European headquarters are in Amsterdam. The company has more than 1,600 staff worldwide.

Legato specialises in information protection, application availability as well as content, message and storage management solutions. It pioneered the industry standard for storage management software products – and Legato products helped Merrill Lynch recover data and systems following the World Trade Center disaster.

Its Professional Consulting Group is responsible for the software architecture and design, implementation, customisation and support service. In Europe, this comprises about 30 consultants using Changepoint PSA software, with about 10 of these users also operating Microsoft Project.

The consultants operate across 12 European countries with offices in the UK, Sweden, Norway, Switzerland, Austria, Poland, Germany, Italy, Spain, Holland, Belgium and France.

Q: WHAT BENEFITS HAVE YOU IDENTIFIED FROM THE SOFTWARE?

A: The advantages we have had are first of all billing – we achieved what we needed to do with the billing. The package has automated everything from timesheet through to the invoice.

Once all our consultants had access to it, we have also used it for them to collect all their documents and reports to customers. Up until then this was being done using Outlook – their mail systems were effectively their databases for knowledge.
