|
Our security survey concentrates on larger organisations, on the basis that they are more likely to be vulnerable and to have the most to protect.
More than a quarter (26%) of the sample have a turnover of between £1 billion and £5 billion, while 16% report a turnover greater than £5 billion.
Over a quarter (26%) of the organisations are in the public sector, while 14% are from financial services, 10% manufacturing and 10% from the IT industry.
The majority (62%) have in excess of 2,500 employees using computers within the organisation.

The string of recent headlines highlighting the havoc caused by virus infections and hacking attacks has served to underline the importance of good IT security. UK organisations are now giving much greater priority to all kinds of protective measures, which are by and large helping to reduce the threats. However, losses still occur and some areas of vulnerability remain.
These are the main conclusions of the first Conspectus survey into e-business and IT security issues, which examines in detail how organisations are attempting to defend themselves against potential problems.
