The web remains a dominant force in supply chain management system installations, as our research makes clear: its promise to deliver simple information sharing among suppliers, partners and customers has led many organisations to introduce internet technology into their supply chain.

The downside of this improved collaboration is that it has brought a whole new level of complexity. The result is that organisations now have less a supply chain, more a supply ‘web’ or a constantly changing network of multiple supply chains.
