  COMPANY FILE

Formerly the logistics division of ICL’s services arm, Logicom was established as a separate company as a result of a management buyout in April 2000, with 3i as the principal investor. Its headquarters are in Stevenage, and it has over 425 employees in 11 European countries.

Logicom offers an outsourced service logistics capability to companies operating in the IT sector, working with its customers at all stages from planning to fulfilment across European markets. Its outsourcing concept includes inventory management and ownership.

Logicom runs a 365 day x 24 hour operation and has more than 60 storage locations across Europe. It owns £50 million of multi-vendor inventory and distributes to 83 countries worldwide.

Its database contains 176,000 service parts, and it handles around 1,600 part requests every day and about 1,200 calls. Customers include Fujitsu Services and Gateway Europe.

Q: HOW WAS THE IMPLEMENTATION HANDLED?

A: Cap Gemini Ernst & Young was responsible for developing the integration solution, and SeeBeyond consultants helped ensure that the overall design and architecture were appropriate and that e*Gate Integrator was configured and installed correctly. They also helped develop some of the code.

We now have two interfaces.
