 PROFILE

Company: HM Land Registry.

Interviewee: Gordon Vickers.

Job Title: Project Manager.

The Subject: Integration technology is enabling the Land Registry to meet government targets for online working, whilst preserving its investment in its existing systems.

PERSONAL FILE

NAME: Gordon Vickers.

BACKGROUND: Has been with the Land Registry for 35 years, working initially in the Nottingham district regional office. Since 1975, he has been based at the computer division, in Plymouth, and is now head of the development centre with special responsibility for electronic services.

Q: HOW DID THE LAND REGISTRY SYSTEMS WORK PREVIOUSLY?

That meant our customers needed to have some specialist software developed so that they could connect into our systems, and it also meant that they were only connected to a dumb terminal.
