E-business is an important catalyst across many industries. According to Butler Group, online business will grow from $43 billion in 1998 to $1.3 trillion in 2003 – and by 2005 it is predicted that there will be 17 billion online purchase transactions per year.
Within financial services, it is estimated that the annual value of fees obtained from PC banking (including bill paying) will reach about $1.3 billion by the end of 2003. Both online and electronic bill payment activities will experience substantial growth.
