Linda Wooldridge: companies are increasingly using mobile communication channels
Jim Kardman has a lot to answer for. It was he who named a short-range, wire-free technology after a little-known Scandinavian monarch, King Harald Blatand (or Bluetooth).
It may have seemed like a good idea to Jim at the time, but the historical allusion somehow shrouds the technology in obscurity. If the name gets in the way for you, just think of Bluetooth as a personal wireless network able to connect devices up to 30 feet apart.
