Spending on manufacturing systems is slow and controlled, according to our latest research. Pat Sweet analyses the findings.

Yet, of those who claim to have this capability, opinions seem to be split as to how easy it is for them to incorporate business events into their forecasting systems in practice. While 20% label this ‘very easy’, and 57% describe it as ‘moderately easy’, the remaining 22% admit that it is ‘not particularly easy’, although none says it is impossible.

Similarly, around half of our sample (54%) use software tools or packages to create scenarios – that is, to model or analyse trends, for the business. But again while the ability is there, using it seems to present rather more of a problem.
