New software at the Portman Building Society is enabling its finance and accounting staff to work more creatively and efficiently.

Established in 1846, the Portman is the UK’s fourth largest building society. It currently has over 1 million customers with assets approaching £9 billion and 1,400 staff at over 100 branches.
When the society recruited Andy Russell as group financial controller in February 2000, he found the accounting package then in place could not support his view of how the finance function ought to work.
