Company: Tesco.com.
Interviewee: Leon Stoner.
Job Title: Project manager/lead webmaster.
Summary: E-commerce procurement.
The Subject: Supermarket chain Tesco is using new software to streamline workflow
and manage content for its highly regarded online grocery site.
|
Q: WHY WAS TESCO LOOKING FOR A
WORKFLOW AND CONTENT MANAGEMENT
SOLUTION?
A: When the online grocery site
was first launched, it ran on just
one or two servers, and content
was not really an issue. We had
a couple of people doing work
on the website, which they were
able to do using Windows
Explorer. Content was then
mapped to the server, there was
a quick bit of testing and if
everyone was happy, it ran.
Of course, home shopping
then grew tremendously in
popularity, as did the server
base. That meant we had a
requirement to guarantee the
content and keep it up to date.
