The EAI solution must support both modern and old application API standards. The majority of B2B transactions still use EDI standards; any EAI solution should respect this situation and be able to cope with this, as well as more modern standards such as those based on XML.
Scalability is also critical: the business will change in the future, more processes will come into the EAI solution as time goes by, and the business may expand or shift direction.
