This month’s Conspectus survey into EAI – see previous article – focuses on larger organisations operating across many industries. The hallmark of these companies is they have many legacy applications performing mission-critical business operations which increasingly need to be integrated with newer business applications if they are to retain a competitive advantage.
If that were not demanding enough, these new business applications also have to be made available over an increasingly wide range of access points: call centres and internet access have evolved to the point where they are virtually taken for granted these days. And there is the prospect of many more points of access becoming available in the future, with a growing emphasis on wireless technology and mobile devices.
