The next version of Ascent, to be launched in early 2001, exploits advanced Microsoft Technologies. It features an n-tier architecture based on Microsoft SQL Server 7.0/2000, and offers scalability from single-site configurations to multiple servers at different locations.

This architecture enables the software to run across the internet, and supports self-service options for employees to view and amend their own information via their web browser, as well as making it suitable for delivery over an ASP model.

It can be customised for individual user requirements through its Embedded Microsoft Visual Basic for Applications and an extensible database.
