Managing resources

MANY DIFFERENT TYPES of enterprises need to manage multiple services and projects simultaneously. In such conditions there is a need for planning, resource optimisation, resource management and management information.

Meanwhile, recent trends towards globalisation, sector consolidation, flat organisation structures, staff mobility, process management, cross-functional projects, outsourcing, home working and e-exchanges, place even greater demands on an organisation’s ability to plan and manage resources.

Poor resource management is the underlying cause for many serious problems including:
Resources not being directed to achieve business priorities.
Failed, expensive or unnecessary projects.
High staff turnover.
Manager overload.
Staff dissatisfaction.
Inability to react rapidly to changing business priorities.
Not knowing the cost or effectiveness of processes.
