THIS YEAR HAS seen a significant number of announcements of major global human resources outsourcing contracts. BP Amoco’s $600 million deal with Exult, if not setting a trend, has unquestionably posted an example that other large organisations and potential suppliers are following. BT and Andersen Consulting have also created a joint venture, combining their technology capability and existing HR infrastructure to create e-peopleserve, which seeks to provide global HR services for major clients. BAE Systems/Xchanging and Nortel/PwC are two other major partnerships established to develop a global HR infrastructure – and the evidence suggests these will not be the last. Growth According to a 1999 report by GartnerGroup/Dataquest, the worldwide market for integrated HR business process management services delivery is forecast to exceed $12 billion by 2003, an astounding 88% compound growth rate over 1998 figures.
