Swift Computing

www.swift-computing.com

Founded in 1982, the Swift Computing Group has grown from a partnership specialising in financial software to a fully fledged developer of an integrated suite covering supply chain management, finance and sales/marketing. Its clients include The AA, B&Q, Banner Business Supplies, Kingston Communications and Thorn UK.

Swift committed to warehousing and distribution software as a strategic line of business in the mid 1990s, and has since formed a sister company, Swift FM, to provide third-party warehousing and fulfilment services.

Swift’s base DISTRIBUTION product now comes with e-commerce options, and Swift FM (itself a user of DISTRIBUTION) is set to announce new initiatives in web-based ordering and fulfilment in 2001.

Swift says the synergy between the two companies enables both to offer a wider range of solutions.

Swift’s premise is that e-commerce has to be backed up by a solid infrastructure of order processing, inventory and warehouse management systems. Its DISTRIBUTION package gives users who want to implement Swift’s On Line store a back-office engine – while Swift FM can provide back-up or longer-term support in warehousing and fulfilment.
