Founded in 1983, Pegasystems creates rules-based workflow solutions designed to change the way organisations automate their business processes.

Pegasystems’ core competency derives from back-office exception processing: the same approach has subsequently been applied to call centre-based customer service solutions and, more recently, to web-based e-CRM solutions.

Pegasystems operates in a number of markets – primarily financial services but also telecoms, healthcare and insurance.

It offers rules-based expert systems that are built on business logic significant to each application area within these industries.

Pegasystems says its patented rules-based technology is different to traditional database-driven CRM options. It offers connectivity, multi-channel presentation capabilities and scalability, enabling an organisation to automate work in a variety of environments.

Pegasystems experienced difficulties in 1998, when a delayed third-quarter result caused anxiety in the investor community.
