E-Business Solutions

InterSystems

www.e-dbms.com

Founded in 1978, InterSystems is a $100 million company based in Cambridge Massachusetts, with around 300 employees and offices around the world.

InterSystems believes that many companies are currently finding that their conventional database solutions are less than satisfactory in the 'e' world.

It quotes a pan-European research study by Vanson Bourne, examining the database market within the context of application development for the web (www.e-dbms.com/analysts/reviews/vanson).

The survey found that 75-96% of all future developed applications were being web enabled.

Of those who had begun their e-business projects, around 40% had re-evaluated their database technology and, of those, half decided to change their database.

This was despite long-standing, existing supplier relationships, investment in skillsets, and the cultural change required for progress.
