InterSystems believes that many companies are currently finding that their conventional database solutions are less than satisfactory in the 'e' world. It quotes a pan-European research study by Vanson Bourne, examining the database market within the context of application development for the web (www.e-dbms.com/analysts/reviews/vanson). The survey found that 75-96% of all future developed applications were being web enabled. Of those who had begun their e-business projects, around 40% had re-evaluated their database technology and, of those, half decided to change their database.
