THE INTERNET IS fundamentally changing the way business is conducted. More and more organisations are moving well beyond a mere presence on the web. They are transforming their operations to integrate with their supply chains, to share knowledge within their organisations and to change the relationships with their partners, customers and employees - while at the same time expanding their reach and participating in new electronic marketplaces. But joining the new e-business world is a real challenge - whether as a new dotcom company clicking away business from traditional bricks-and-mortar competitors, or as a well-known company taking full advantage of new business models to slash costs or provide customers with new personalised web services. An effective, money generating e-business operation requires more than an attractive website. A website that is slow, inefficient, insecure, not scalable and not delivering on its promises, will not only be damaging to the corporate brand and image, but is a prime reason for e-business failure.
